Scottsburg Kiwanis Club President, Al Riggle, presents a check for $1,000 to United Way of Scott County Executive Director Nancy Riley. The grant was awarded from the Scottsburg Kiwanis Club Fund at the Scott County Community Foundation and will be used to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program. This initiative provides free books for children from birth through age five, mailed every month to a child’s home. United Way and Community Foundation brought this program to Scott County five years ago to increase early childhood literacy. There are currently 994 children who receive books, with 630 who “graduated” when they turned five. It only costs $25 to sponsor a child each year. For more information, call 812-752-2586 or 812-752-2057. You may also register your child at www.imaginationlibrary.com.
Twice Told Tales will be open Friday, September 8, and Saturday, September 9, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm both days. The used book store is at 765 South Main, Scottsburg.
