The Scottsburg Kiwanis Club donated $200 to the 4H Robotics Team from Vienna Finley ES to help them with their registration fee to enter the VEX Robotics Worldwide Competition in Louisville, KY the end of April. The team won the local competition, and placed high enough in the regional and state competitions to quality to compete in the Worldwide Competition. The Scottsburg Kiwanis Club recognized twenty-five third graders at Vienna Finley Elementary School for making the BUG Honor Roll the second grading period. BUG stands for Bring up Grades and is a Kiwanis Service Leadership Program. To make the BUG Honor Roll a student must improve at least one grade in at least one subject and not go down in any others. BUG Honor Roll students are recognized with a certificate identifying the subject(s) they improved, a party with snacks and prizes and the first time they make the BUG Honor Roll, they earn a BUG T-Shirt. BUG Honor Roll students in Ms Lucas’ class are Brody Amos, Nathan Garcia, Gertie Gregory, Lia Knowles, Byronn Rider, Finn Sawin, Scotty Smith and Lucas Wimp. BUG Honor Roll students in Ms Thomas’ class are Uriah Barrientos, Carmen Brown, Owen Brown, Gavyn Busick, Brooklyn East, Ian Gricius and Gavin Jackson. BUG Honor Roll students in Ms Dulaney’s class are Skyler Amos, Gabrielle Comer, Hadley Barton-Smith, Braxton Cole, Reagan Campbell, Rachael Carey, James Dixon, Briar McCrady, Bennett Pearcy and Landon Toppe. The Scottsburg Kiwanis Club donated $500 to CASA to support the outstanding work they do serving as the voice for some of the neediest kids in our community. The Kiwanis are honored to support CASA and sincerely appreciate all they do for our kids. The Lexington Elementary School K-Kids installed their officers and inducted their new members in a ceremony held in the school gym. The Bryanne Paris, Katie Montgomery and Dylan Best from the Scottsburg Middle School Builders Club installed the new officers. New officers for the LES K-Kids areAubree Eldridge, President; Emma Johanningsmeier, Vice President; Shelby Bennett, Secretary; Dessie Sandlin, Treasurer; Marlie Baker and Taylor Tankersley, 5th Grade Representatives; and Draiden Sheckell and Owyn South, 4th Grade Representatives. The LES K-Kids have been active ringing the Salvation Army bell for Clearinghouse, collecting donations for Riley Children’s Hospital and planning to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl For Kids Sake.
