The Scottsburg Kiwanis Club donated $500 to CASA to support the outstanding work they do serving as the voice for some of the neediest kids in our community. The Kiwanis are honored to support CASA and sincerely appreciate all they do for our kids. Pictured is Kiwanian Nick South presenting the donation to CASA Executive Director Kelly Shelhamer and Paula Kern.
I wanted to take time to share with all of you that we were awarded the VOCA Grant at full funding requested! We are so excited about this new adventure! It will allow us to hire 3 full time staff: 2 Staff Advocates that will pick up some of our wait listed children and 1 additional Volunteer Coordinator. I have posted these on our Facebook page so feel free to share! I will be accepting resume’s until July 6th. I will then review those the week of the fair and schedule interviews for July. These positions will start in October since that is when the grant term starts. If you have any questions please contact me.

Thank you to our Kiwanis Family members who helped with the CASA Service Project last Saturday. Mike Everett (SMH), Guy Townsend, Angela Bray (SCSD2), Ricky Bray and Al Riggle with James Wuerzberger and Sam Everettfrom the SHS Key Club changed a door knob on the garage, cleaned mold/moss off the garage wall, cleaned the gutters, sprayed for termites, pruned the roses, mulched the flower beds and picked up trash/debris from the winter. Thanks especially to Dale Armstrong for delivering the mulch.
Also special thanks to Noah Bray for supervising!
We will schedule another service project to stain the ramp.
On behalf of Kelly Shelhamer, Director for CASA, thank you very much for the assistance!
The Scottsburg Kiwanis Club conducted their annual spring service project at the CASA House. Pictured are Ricky Bray, Guy Townsend, Noah Bray, Al Riggle, Angela Bray and James Wuerzberger working on the flower beds and spraying for termites. Members of the Kiwanis Club and the Scottsburg High School Key Club changed a door knob on the garage, power washed the North garage wall, cleaned the gutters, sprayed for termites, pruned the roses, mulched the flower beds and picked up trash/debris from the winter. CASA serves some of the neediest kids in Scott County by providing them a voice in court. The CASA volunteers are trained and appointed by the court system to serve the kids in our community. The annual service project by Kiwanis is one small way we can give back to those who provide such an important service to our kids.
