Congratulations to Jerry Hartman for serving 50 years as a Kiwanis member serving the kids in Scott County. Pictured are Vickie and Jerry Hartman and Al Riggle presenting Jerry his Legion of Honor for 50 years. Jerry has served our club in many capacities, most notably as President and Treasurer and has been a key volunteer over the years in the Flag Progran, Tent Program, Pancake Breakfasts, Spaghetti Dinner and many other events. We are proud of Jerry’s service and congratulate him for reaching this milestone.
The Scottsburg Kiwanis Club recognized 116 third graders in Scott County for making the BUG Honor Roll the end of the second grading period. To make the BUG Honor Roll (Bring Up Grades) the students must improve at least one grade in at least one subject and not go down in any other subjects. Students earning this recognition are provided a party, a certificate identifying the subject(s) they improved, snacks, prizes and a BUG T-Shirt the first time they make the BUG Honor Roll. This grading period, sixteen students at Vienna Finley Elementary School improved their grades. BUG Honor Roll students in Ms Dulaney’s class are Hudson Garten, Gage Densford and Regan Kiefer. BUG Honor Roll students in Ms Lucas’ class are Izabelle Allgood, Porter Banister, Eli Combs, LeAndra Schooner, Emily Taylor and Hayden Thomas. BUG Honor Roll students in Ms Thomas’ class are Luke Arbuckle, Bella Crites, Addison Elliott, Charlie Garcia, Katherine Hancock, Jarin Luttrell and Alan Wilson. Pictured with the students is Kiwanian Tiffany Barrett, VFES Principal. Congratulations to each of these students for their hard work and success this grading period. The BUG Program is made possible by the sponsorship of Austin Tri Hawk who also provided the snacks. BUG is an academic incentive program provided by the Kiwanis Club in partnership with Scott County School Districts 1 & 2.
