The 2017-18 Lexington Elementary School K-Kids were recognized by Mayor Bill Graham with the Good Neighbor Award for 2018 in the Youth Civic/School category. PIctured are members of the LES K-Kids with their faculty advisor Mrs Lee Anna Willett. This group was also recognized by Kiwanis International as a Distinguished Club.

Scottsburg Kiwanis Club Corporate Member Hickory Creek hosted the annual Kiwanis dinner celebration to install new officers and board members and to recognize outstanding volunteers including the Kiwanian of the Year and Corporate Kiwanian of the Year for 2017-18Thanks to Kim Smith, Tonya Lewis, the staff and the residents for inviting us into their home again this year for this special mealThe Annual Dinner at Hickory Creek has become a traditional favorite with the Kiwanis members!

 

President Al Riggle announced Chris Wakeman as the Kiwanian of the Year, Individual Member Category for 2017-18.

The staff and residents of Hickory Creek, corporate member of the Scottsburg Kiwanis Club, hosted the Kiwanis for their annual dinner meetingPresident Al Riggle announced Chris Wakeman as the Kiwanian of the Year, Individual Member Category for 2017-18Chris is a past president of the club and volunteers and supports just about every program and project Kiwanis is involved with in Scott County.  He chairs the pancake breakfasts to raise funds for Kiwanis programs and projects and the spaghetti dinner to raise money for Riley Children’s Hospital and serves as our master chef.  Chris serves on the Scottsburg Kiwanis Club Board of Directors and Chairs the Membership Committee.  He volunteers with the Bring Up Grade (BUG) Program, CRADLE Pregnancy Resource Center and CASA service projects, helps with the flag program and the tent program.  Chris is an outstanding volunteer and makes a difference for the kids in Scott County. Chris is most deserving of this award.  Congratulations to Chris Wakeman!

The staff and residents of Hickory Creek, Corporate Member of the Scottsburg Kiwanis Club, hosted the Kiwanis for their annual dinner celebration President Al Riggle announced Austin Tri Hawk as the Kiwanian of the Year, Corporate Member Category for 2017-18Pictured are Kiwanis President Al Riggle, Mike Murry, Jeff Barrett and David BaileyAustin Tri Hawk believes in our kids and are bringing the Kiwanis vision alive – the best way to improve a community is to improve the kids in that community. Austin Tri Hawk sponsors the Bring Up Grades (BUG) Program because they see the impact it has on our kids and the incentive it provides them to work hard, improve their grades and be successful.  They attend the BUG parties to help recognize and cheer on the students who have improved their grades.  They provided funds to support the Vision Screening Program and purchase new machines to expand the program to Austin High School this fall.  They sponsor students from Austin High School and Scottsburg High School to attend the Key Leader Camp at Camp Tecumseh near West Lafayette, Indiana to develop leadership skills with kids from all over the state of Indiana.  They are strong supporters of the Read and Lead Program which is just kicking off at Vienna Finley and Lexington Elementary Schools with our K-Kids clubsAustin Tri Hawk is most deserving of this award.  Congratulations to Mike Murry and Austin Tri Hawk.
