Austin Elementary School BUG Party

The Vienna Finley K-Kids were nominated for the Good Neighbor Award

The Vienna Finley K-Kids were nominated for the Good Neighbor Award in the Church/SchoolCivic/Other Youth Group Category for 2017K-Kids Briana Busick and Jaylee Chandler attended the Good Neighbor Award Banquet to receive their award and recognition on 16 June 2017 Since they were chartered in 2016, the K-Kids have been active in service projects both at Vienna Finley Elementary School and in the community including participating in the Scott County Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl For Kids Sake where they raised over $400, setting up a pinwheel garden at VFES to raise awareness of Child Abuse during Child Abuse Prevention Month, collecting donations for UNICEF by participating in Trick or Treat for UNICEF, and learning about the Dwight Chamberlain Raptor Center as part of their effort to support the Raptor Center Pictured are from left to right in the back row: Kiwanis Advisor Al Riggle, VFES Principal Tiffany Barrett, Matt Busick, Angela Busick, Scottsburg Mayor Bill Graham, Stephen Carey, VFES Faculty Advisor Katie Sawin.  Front row:  Taylor Busick, Fafe Busick, Briana Busick and  Jaylee Chandler The K-Kids is one of the Kiwanis sponsored Service Leadership Programs designed to develop leadership skills through community service.  The students elect their own officers, form their own committees and determine what projects they would like to do.  The VFES K-Kids earned Honor Club status in 2016.

Scottsburg Kiwanis Club President Terry Davis presented $1,400 in scholarship awards to five students at a recent dinner/meeting at The Kitchen on The Square in ScottsburgScholarship recipients were Rachelle Jones from Austin High School who will be attending the University of Southern Indiana, Shelby Cole from Austin High School who will be attending Hanover College, Makalyn Brown from Scottsburg High School who will be attending Bellarmine University, Alexa Howser from Scottsburg High School who will be attending Indiana University and Kayla Morris from Scottsburg High School who will be attending Indiana State UniversityThe Kiwanis congratulated these outstanding students on their accomplishments and wished them the best of luck with their studies.

Lisa Sutton (SCSD2 Corporate Member) was nominated for the Mayor’s Good Neighbor AwardShe was recognized for her work at Scottsburg Middle School and various projects and programs she supports in Scott County. Lisa is the Faculty Advisor for the SMS Builders Club and volunteers at our pancake breakfasts, spaghetti dinners, Taco Wagon, Christmas float decorating and helps with the Salvation Army Bell Ringing among her many service projects.  The Scottsburg Kiwanis Club is proud of Lisa and congratulate her on her recognition by the Good Neighbor CommitteePictured with Lisa is her Mom  Sonya Mastin and Linda Slaton Lisa is a Kiwanis Starfish Award winner for her work with the Builders Club.

Kiwanis Club presented Skyler Coomer a $500 scholarship check

Terry Davis, President of the Scottsburg Kiwanis Club presented Skyler Coomer a $500 scholarship check at a recent meeting of the Scottsburg Kiwanis Club at The Kitchen on the Square in ScottsburgSkyler will be attending Indiana University where she will be studying English and Journalism.  She recently graduated from Austin High School where she was the Charter President of the Austin High School Key Club.  The Kiwanis members congratulated Skyler and wished her the best in her studies.
