Wes Clark (on the left) recently spoke about codes at the Kiwanis weekly dinner meeting at the Roadhouse USA. Wes worked on codes while serving in the US Army Security Agency and US State Dept. He talked about Civil War codes and how they were developed, used and broken. He brought an example in to share with the members to see if they could figure it out. LL Lowry was the first to break the code in the meeting. Wes talked about other codes and how they’ve been used through history. The members found his presentation most interesting and asked him to come back to another meeting to continue the discussion. Jack McWhirter is on the right, he also served in the Army Security Agency.
