Scott County Partnership Seeking Volunteers for Summer Feeding Program

This summer the Scott County Partnership and both school districts are partnering with the Department of Education and the USDA to provide healthy lunches to students while on summer break. Volunteers are needed to help serve lunches in Austin and Lexington.

The meals are provided free to students ages preschool to 18 years old. Meals will be served from June 1 to July 31 in Austin and from June 4 through August 3 in Lexington.

“We wanted to make sure students get a good meal for lunch during the summer months,” shared Kim Richie, who is overseeing the program for the Scott County Partnership. “Our hope is to help families that need some extra assistance. We are thrilled to provide meals for the children all week long.”

The Austin Lunch schedule will begin at Austin Park at 12 p.m. and then serve at Calvary Temple Church at 12:45 p.m. The Lexington Lunch schedule will begin at the Lexington Firehouse at 11 a.m. and then serve at the Lexington Presbyterian Church at 11:45 a.m. We hope youth will come out every day at both sites to EAT THIS DELICIOUS FOOD!!!

Volunteers are needed for both sites to visit and interact with the youth! For more information on the Summer Feeding Program or to volunteer, please contact Kim Richie  at kim.richie@scottcountypartnership.org or call 812-820-0909.
