Scott County Partnership Serves Austin Through the Summer Feeding Program
This summer the Scott County Partnership and SCSD 1 are partnering with the Department of Education and the USDA to provide healthy lunches to students while on summer break. Volunteers are needed to help serve lunches. Lunches will be served at Spicertown Park and Austin Community Park. The meals are provided free to students of SCSD 1, ages 18 and under. Meals will be served between 11:50 am to 1:00 pm via bus route from May 30 through July 28, Monday through Friday. (No lunch on July 4th.)
“We wanted to make sure students get a good meal for lunch but also wanted to assist families as a whole.” states Al Riggle, Chair of the Family, Health & Self-Sufficiency Committee for the Scott County Partnership. “Our hope is to help families that need some extra assistance. By providing the daily meals Monday through Friday, we have created the means to provide meals for the children all week long.”
The Lunch schedule will begin each day at the Spicertown Park at Campbell’s Mobile Home Park. Lunch will last from11:50 a.m. until 12:20 p.m. From there the bus will travel to the Austin City Park at the end of Broadway Street.  Lunch will last from 12:30-1:00 p.m. We hope youth will come out every day at both sites to EAT THIS DELICIOUS FOOD!!!
Volunteers are needed for both sites to visit and interact with the youth! For more information on the Summer Feeding Program or to volunteer for the Austin lunch sites please contact Tori Rone at tori.rone@scottcountypartnership.org or call 812-595-5198.
