Scott County Partnership Seeks Volunteers for Summer Feeding Program in Austin.

This summer The Scott County Partnership, SCSD2 and the The Food and Nutrition Department from Scott County Hospital are partnering with the Department of Education, the USDA and Gleaners to provide healthy lunches to students while on summer break. Volunteers are needed to help serve lunches. Lunches will be served at Spicertown Park and Austin City Park. The meals are provided free to students of SCSD1 ages 18 and under. The meals will be served between from 11:50 AM-1:00 PM

The Scott County Partnership will serve lunches via bus route. The lunches will be served May 31st-August 5th, Monday through Friday. As well as serving lunches, on Fridays meal boxes for families will be available. Meal boxes will provide approximately one week of meals for families.

We felt the need was there to make sure students get a hot fresh meal for lunch but also wanted to assist families as a whole.” states Ace Woodson, Special Events Coordinator for the Scott County Partnership. “Our hope is to help families that need some extra assistance. By providing the daily meals Monday-Friday and then delivering the meal boxes on Friday we can make an effort to provide meals for the children all week long”
