Seventeen members of the Kiwanis Family descended on the CASA House Saturday morning 2 April to celebrate Kiwanis One Day with a service project for CASA. Pictured are Kiwanis Members Dale Armstrong and Dave Church and SHS Key Club Member Josie Crawford in front of the CASA House. Kiwanis One Day is that one day a year when Kiwanis Clubs all over the world conduct a service project in their communities on the same day. This is the fourth year the Kiwanis have conducted their Kiwanis One Day service project at CASA. The Kiwanis Family painted a door, stained the ramp, mulched and pruned the roses, pulled up carpet, moved furniture, did general spring cleaning and stored items in the attic. Scott County CASA is composed of highly trained volunteers appointed by the judicial system to assist kids in Scott County. There are ~29 active CASA volunteers for about 100 kids in the program. Almost 180 kids are on a waiting list waiting for a CASA volunteer to be available to support them. The Taste of Scott County on 25 April is their annual fundraiser to help raise funds to recruit and train more volunteers. Taste will be held at the Scottsburg High School from 5:00-8:00.
