The Scottsburg Kiwanis Club hosted a BUG celebration to recognize fifteen third graders in Mrs Fugate’s class at Austin ES for improving their grades this grading period. BUG (Bringing Up Grades) is a Kiwanis signature program which provides incentives to students to improve their grades and study habits. Students recognized on the BUG Honor Roll were Myca Buckel, Travis Dehart, Petyon Everage, Talan Foga, Addie Goens, Kelsey Hawkins, Ethan Hernandez, Kolten Mayse, Miley-Jo McCasland, Bryan Nieberlein, Delaney Shuler, Javen Smith, Grayson Squires, Ethan Swank and Stevie Wooten. BUG Honor Roll students are rewarded with a party, snacks, prizes, certificates that identify the subject they improved and a BUG T-Shirt the first time they make the BUG Honor Roll. BUG Honor Roll students are recognized each grading period. This is the second year the Kiwanis and Austin ES have partnered in the BUG Program. All public elementary schools in Scott County participate in BUG now. Sixty-nine students were recognized at Austin ES this grading period. BUG is made possible by the support of the Youth Grantmaking Council who provided the BUG T-Shirts and the Scottsburg HS Key Club who provided the cookies.
