The Scottsburg Kiwanis Club hosted a BUG celebration at Scottsburg ES recognizing seventeen students in Mrs Reynold’s third grade class for making the BUG Honor Roll the first grading period. The following students made the BUG Honor Roll: Kierra Albertson, Katrina Cooper, Jonah Copple, Gregory Dilger, Connor Everhart, Lillie Hall, Siena Kelly, Madison Lovins, Bayleigh McCrady, Brianna Mihalik, Kaybrey Mull, Lexi Mullins, Divine Payne, Lizzie Riley, Nate Rutherford, Jayce Smith and Aidan Stieber. BUG (Bringing Up Grades) is a Kiwanis signature program designed to provide incentives to third graders to improve their grades, teach discipline in their studies and homework and set goals to improve their performance. To make the BUG Honor Roll a student must improve at least one grade in at least one subject and not go down in any other subjects. Those students who make the BUG Honor Roll receive a party by the Kiwanis and receive a certificate identifying the subject they improved, snacks, prizes and a BUG T-shirt the first time they make the BUG Honor Roll. This is the third year the Kiwanis and Scottsburg ES have partnered in the BUG Program. The BUG Program would not be possible without the support of the Youth Grantmaking Council for providing the BUG T-shirts and Jeeves for providing the cookies.
