Members of our community involved in the CIRCLES Program recently spoke to the Scottsburg Kiwanis Club at their dinner meeting at the Quality Inn in Scottsburg. Pictured are David Wilson, Scottsburg Kiwanis Club President, Mary Holwager, CIRCLES Leader; Mary Jones, CIRCLES Ally; and Aaron Lewis, CIRCLES Ally. They spoke about their experiences with Scott County Circles and how it has made a difference in their lives.
Scott County Circles is a supportive, stable community program offered to help people create a better future. Circles makes a conscious effort to welcome and include those who may feel like they have no support from the community. Circles provides a non-judgmental, goal-based support system to help participants move from surviving to thriving.
Circles teaches participants how to use their strengths, set real life goals, budget time and money, and holds them accountable. The Circle Allies are part of the support system to help people achieve a more successful future.
Circles meets on Thursday evenings at the Grace Covenant Community Building, located on Cherry Street in Austin. Dinner is served at 5:30, followed by weekly programming from 6:15 to 7:30. Meals, childcare and class materials are all provided free of charge to participants.
The Scottsburg Kiwanis Club thanked Mary, Mary and Aaron for their presentation and for sharing what Circles does to support people in Scott County and the surrounding counties.
